A nutritious breakfast that’s super quick and super delish!
Ingredients
For the Porridge
- 1/3 cup of quick oats (or one sachet of porridge oats)
- 1/2 cup of any milk
- One teaspoon of honey or maple syrup
- One teaspoon of chai powder
- Peanut butter, to serve
- Fresh berries, to serve
To Make Your Own Chai Powder
- 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons of ground cardamom
- 1 teaspoon of ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon of ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon of ground allspice
- a pinch of black pepper
- 2 heaped tablespoons of coconut sugar
Instructions
- For the chai powder, sift the sugar into mixing bowl and then add the spices. Stir thoroughly to combine, so that all spices are evenly distributed. Store in a jar at room temperature.
- For the porridge, combine the oats and the milk in a microwave-safe container. Add the honey or maple syrup and the chai powder, then stir.
- Microwave for one minute and then stir. Microwave again for a further 30 seconds.
- If the porridge is too thick, add some extra milk and stir through. The oats will thicken as they cool, so a slightly runny consistency is ideal.
- Zap the peanut butter in the microwave for 15 seconds and stir. Continue in 15 second bursts until you get a runny consistency. This will help the peanut butter combine with the oats but this step isn’t necessary. Some types of peanut butters will melt better than others.
- Serve the porridge with the peanut butter and the fruit. Delish!
